Party Decorations, Party Planning
Right Around the Corner?
Parties, celebrations, wedding, or shindig, you’re going to need plenty of tables and chairs.
Tables and chairs are not only for the basic necessity of sitting and eating but they are also crucial for serving, socializing, and gathering. In this guide we want to help you decide the type of party tables, and chair rentals you should be using based off of your upcoming events. Before you make the big decision of renting anything, read this guide first!
There are three key components to be considered when picking your tables and chairs:
1. What kind of mood are you trying to set for this party?
2. How will tables and chairs direct your guests to participate in this event?
3. Will they support the nature of the main event? (ex: eating, drinking, socializing, etc.)
First Things First
Decide on the theme/setting.
The theme will help you decide whether you need to rent a rustic, simple or elegant table + chair arrangement. Along with these, you’ll get to choose the perfect table cloths to cover your table and chair rentals. This setting will create the criteria for the chair and table requirements.
Decide on the number of people.
Whether it’s a huge wedding or a small birthday party, you’re going to need party tables and chair rentals. These items should be rented when you know you will be having more people over than you have space to accommodate. If events are a regular occurrence that takes place in your home, consider purchasing seats, fold out 6-foot tables to keep in your home. However, renting out these items will always be an option that will also allow you to change out the style every so often.
Decide on the activities.
Will there be food for guests to eat together? (This can be a buffet or seated, served function). Is this a socializing event with only cocktails? Is this event centered around a sporting event? Will there be presentations to be displayed at a retreat or convention?
Round Tables:
If you are looking for a classic setting, round tables are going to be your best bet. These tables provide a classic look for most sit-down functions, these are the most common of the party table and chair rentals. The standard size for these are 60″ circular tables that can seat 8-10 guests. Since most of these tables have a plywood top, you will want to choose table clothes that will cover them well.
Long Tables
If you are striving for the rustic or “family” style for your event, then these are the perfect tables for you. These long tables are around 6 feet long and have plywood tops and metal legs. The six foot version of this table will accommodate 6-8 people comfortably. You have choices to make from the higher end version called a “farm table”. The Farm Table will have wooden legs and a tabletop, and if that’s an aesthetic you’re going for then it’s the one for you! These Farm Tables however, are a more substantial construction, it is best for about six guests.
Cocktail Tables
These tables are a perfect addition for events where you will be socializing with cocktails and light appetizers. If you want your guests to mingle at this event, you may wish to avoid chairs and go with small, profile tables that are tall bar style so that people can put their drinks down. People can gather around a table close enough for small talk and be able to listen to each other over any music that is playing. These tables are perfect if you want to encourage dancing at your event or if your event is an art show style where people will have the chance to meander around a room.
Small Side Note: Take into consideration the music volume at your events. If you plan to host an event where guests will be social, then it will be crucial to keep the volume reasonable so people can hear each other rather than need to shout over music and end up with a hoarse voice.
Observation Seating
If you want your guests to have their eyes directed towards one spot then you may want to go with seating that faces all one direction. Think about whether or not you will need to. include “conference tables”. Conference tables are low profile tables that provide attendees with areas to place personal items or materials for the event. This eight-foot table is suitable for 6-8 people. Take some time to estimate how long people will be sitting, what kind of chairs will be needed, will these seats need supportive padding if a presentation is occurring? For wedding chair rentals, a classic folding chair is suitable for a 30-60 minute service.
